Assignment 1 – Stop Motion
  • Description:
    • Students will create a 1+ second animation at 12 frames a second (equation: fps X sec = )
    • This project will be roughly 5 weeks long. with the 5th week saved for compiling and editing.
    • This project will introduce you to video editing. we will be using Adobe Premiere Pro
Requirements – If there are any props, toys or objects you want to use from home, you may bring them. They will be stored away in the back room away from the other classes
  • Tips/Hints – To stay on top of this project, You should aim to hit at least 100 frames a week.
    • Use half the first week storyboarding so you can use the last of half week 5 to edit

Vocabulary
  • Stop Motion Animation
    • An animation style where the animator will reposition an object, take a picture and do this process over and over to create an animation
  • 3 point lighting
    • A lighting set up that uses 3 lights with intensities set up at 100%, 50% and 25% these lights are known as the main light, fill light and backlight.
  • Natural Lighting
    • Lighting designed to mimic the natural lighting of a building or outside scene or simply using the lighting that is the filming location.
  • Camera angles
    • where the camera is looking at or what is in frame of the camera.
  • Sequence Compiling.
    • Taking the frames produced by the camera and stringing them together using computer software to create the animation
